How the numbers are worked out

An example

Price US $24.99, product cost 6.00, shipping 3.00, ad cost per order 6.00, platform fee 0%, payment fee 2.9% plus 0.30 per order (example rates; use your own payment provider's). The payment fee is about 1.02, break-even ad cost 14.97, net profit per order 8.97, net margin 35.88%, break-even ACoS 59.89% and break-even ROAS 1.67. In other words, every US $1 of ads has to bring in at least US $1.67 of sales or the order loses money. To make US $10 net per order, choose “Net profit per order” and the price comes out at 26.06.

Questions

How much should I sell AliExpress products for?

There is no single answer: it depends on your product cost, shipping, ad cost and fees. Switch the pricing method to “Net profit per order” or “Ad-cost multiple”, enter what you want to make, and the calculator works out the price.

What is break-even ROAS?

Break-even ROAS = price ÷ break-even ad cost. If your ads' real ROAS is above it, the order still makes money after ads; below it, you lose money. “Cannot break even” means nothing is left for ads after cost, shipping and fees.

How do I count PayPal or other payment fees?

Most payment providers charge a percentage of the price plus a fixed amount per order. Put the percentage in “Payment fee” and the fixed amount in “Payment fee per order”; both are counted in the profit and in a worked-out price. Use your own provider's actual rates.

Shipping is different for every country. How do I handle that?

This page works with one shipping number at a time: change it for each country. The Chrome extension can save a shipping amount and a free-shipping amount for each of 249 destination countries, on your own computer only.

Why are returns and taxes not included?

Return rates, return losses and taxes are different for every store, so we do not estimate them for you. Leave yourself a margin when you set the price.

Can I use it for products from Amazon?

Yes: put the Amazon price in “Product cost”. On Amazon product pages the extension can fill the price in for you. This calculator does not work out Amazon FBA fees.

Are the numbers I type uploaded?

No. Everything is calculated in your browser; the page neither uploads nor saves what you type, and it uses no analytics.

Does it work for any store platform?

Yes. Put your platform's transaction fee, if it has one, in “Platform fee”, and your payment provider's fees in the two payment boxes.
